Ratings
Most ACTJCL events are submitted for rating in the Australian Chess Federation’s rating lists. The lists are updated on 1 March, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December each year.

There are two Australian lists – Normal and Rapid, and also an international (FIDE) rating list.

A tournament can be rated on the Normal rating list if each player has at least 60 minutes at the start of the game (whether or not there are increments); or each player has at least 30 minutes at the start of the game and increments of at least 30 seconds from the start.

A Rapid game is one in which each player gets at least 15 minutes for all moves but is otherwise too fast for the normal list.

A game faster than Rapid, for instance all moves in five minutes, is not eligible to be rated, nor are games involving variants like Transfer or Fischer Random.

Congratulation to the ACT top juniors* on the 1 June 2012 list and particularly to our “top improver” Dillon Hathiramani with his 212 point jump on the normal list!
